Home and Clinic Consultations:

We offer a private consultation in the comfort of your own home or at one of our own clinics, at a time to suit you.
Our aim during a consultation is to give you the opportunity to explore and discuss what’s been happening for you and your baby. We can then work together to address practical issues and help you to set realistic expectations of your baby and yourself. We will answer any questions you have throughout our time together. Our goal is to leave you feeling more confident and better able to navigate your way through the jungle of conflicting information, which so many new parents find themselves lost in. We will leave you with a plan and strategies for a way forward, so that you can better achieve your breastfeeding and mothering goals.

Consultations usually last 90 minutes. This allows time to find out what’s been happening for your new family, talk about what you’d like to achieve and work on this together. At the end of the appointment we will agree a feeding plan for moving forward.

Subsequent Consultations, if required, offer an opportunity to review how the feeding plan has been working for you both, and to discuss any further options that you would like to explore or additional questions that you might have. These can be arranged directly with your Lactation Consultant.

£190

per 90 minute consultation

(including £20 travel expenses)

£50

per half hour additional time

Any additional equipment items required will be charged at cost

It’s hard to believe all those months ago when you came to our home to help me with feeding my twins that I would be so far on in my journey.

Today the boys are 6 months and we are still going strong.  Despite how ready I was to stop due to pain I’m now not sure when I will be ready. The boys are basically pro feeders and have thrived.

I’m so pleased we reached out for help when we did, the speed of the fix was fantastic. We are currently on holiday (our second as a family) and talking to friends and people at multiples groups the shock from some about ‘how much stuff we would need’. The horrors of how to settle a baby on a plane or worry about going out for the evening and not having enough bottles, how to sterilise them etc, we have never had to think about it. The answer is always simply pop them on a boob. We couldn’t have done the holidays without breastfeeding and we couldn’t have continued that without your help.

Dropping top ups and not expressing have given me so much more time and energy to enjoy being with the boys.

I’ve said it many times, it’s an area that needs more investment because you change the lives of women who have had babies. The money and time you save and the health benefits you help promote are something else. Thank you, I feel like you helped unlock a superpower and I am now evangelical about helping other women do the same.

I remember you telling me that I’d be amazed at the places I will find myself confident enough to feed. So to confirm, I have tandem fed in: winter wonderland, on a plane, in a pub, in a pop tent on the beach, using a sling while I potter around the house, on the sofa while I eat dinner and most importantly in bed, in the early hours without having to build a whole pillow fort or wrestle a p&p pillow.

Simply, thank you.

From the moment [my lactation consultant] arrived we felt supported. She has a very easy, warm and straight-forward approach. She picked up almost instantly on what was going on for us (a very strong let down and oversupply) and had practical solutions that she helped us implement. She was brilliant at sharing research and links to further resources and was available after her visit too. It’s no exaggeration to say she transformed the breastfeeding experience for us and made it possible. I’m so pleased we met her and will always be grateful for her part in our journey.

My son was born in January 2022 with low birth weight, tongue tie and issues with upper body stiffness. I had been absolutely set on breastfeeding from the moment I found out I was pregnant but my son was failing to gain weight and my supply wasn’t coming in due to his poor latch.
I had a home visit from [my London Lactation Consultant] and she was such a calm and friendly presence at such a stressful time. She gave me information on tongue ties and where to find an osteopath.
My son cried throughout both home visit sessions and barely latched but [my consultant] kept confidently telling me he needed practice and we could still achieve exclusive breastfeeding if that was my goal.

My son is now 12 and a half months and has been successfully breastfeeding without needing any bottles for 7 months. Getting to this point was the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I can confidently say I wouldn’t have achieved it without [London Lactation Consultants].
A million thank yous!

I was on the verge of quitting breastfeeding because of how painful it still was at 5 weeks postpartum and was getting nowhere with countless hours of googling and watching breastfeeding videos. We first saw [my lactation consultant] by video call, but I was suspicious that my baby had a tongue tie so we arranged a home visit. [My consultant] assessed my baby for tongue tie and confirmed my suspicion. She also showed us how to feed with the laid back position and the improvement was immediate. We have now made it to 4 months ebf!  [My consultant’s] help and encouragement was invaluable, and the in person help with positioning gave me a lot more confidence. Highly recommend.

My baby was born premature and he spent the first two weeks of his life in SCBU being fed mostly via an ng tube with some bottle feeding at the start… Breastfeeding was really important to me and at the time it felt like it was bound to fail since my baby had trouble latching. I was also very worried about my milk supply diminishing as a result.  [My lactation consultant] was able to give me latching advice that worked for an older baby and my son has been latching deeper ever since. She was also extremely encouraging and non-judgemental about the initial use of nipple shields unlike some other healthcare professionals that I had seen before. She was able to give me up to date advice and information about monitoring my supply and my son’s growth without making me feel like since we had a rough start, we were likely to fail. [My lactation consultant] also helped me feel more at ease with different feeding positions, and encouraged me to focus on being comfortable instead of following rigid positions. Thanks to [London Lactation Consultants], I feel more confident, and I can focus on enjoying breastfeeding instead of being constantly worried.

Telephone and videocall consultations

Our long experience of supporting families remotely via telephone/Zoom/FaceTime etc became particularly valuable during the Covid pandemic, enabling us to provide much needed and valued breastfeeding support, both locally and abroad.

We offer 30-minute consultations at £60 which we request in advance. Each further 15 minutes is charged at £30 and this is paid after the call.

For some situations 30 minutes is enough time but for more complex situations – particularly where we need to see your baby feeding – more time may be appropriate. We automatically check at 25 minutes if you wish to continue and can either summarise at that point or agree more time.

Facetime, WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom – we can usually use whatever works best for you.

£60

for up to 30 minutes

£30

per 15 minutes, or part thereof

We request that an initial payment of £60 is made
prior to the consultation.

Being able to breastfeed was really important to me so when my little girl first latched on and I felt pain and discomfort I felt like a failure. 2 days in my breasts were blistered, scabbed and sore. The endless YouTube videos and searches on google to try and ‘perfect’ our latch just made me feel more confused and fed up. Why was breastfeeding so complicated and difficult? Then came [my Lactation Consultant]…..absolute game changer! Through our sessions via zoom (which were incredible) [she] was able to provide reassurance, support and advice which led to instant results! There were no overly complicated instructions to try and implement- just practical guidance and support. Before I worked with [my lactation consultant], I used to dread feeds as all I anticipated was pain and discomfort – now I feed my little one with confidence and ease. Over our zoom sessions we worked on an amazing baby led latch which made me and my little one sooo much more comfy and a whole lot less stressed! The zoom sessions are so effective and super convenient and I would highly recommend to absolutely everyone!

[My lactation consultant] was enormously helpful when we ran into issues with our first daughter, putting us on a schedule that allowed me to build my supply and combination feed for the first five months (when I was ready to give up on breastfeeding after a few days), notwithstanding some complicated physical issues. She was always available and incredibly compassionate but also practical. We trusted her advice so much that I reached out two years later for help putting together a plan for maintaining breastfeeding over a weeklong trip away from my second daughter. I would highly recommend reaching out to [London Lactation Consultants] for help!

I had a series of digital consultations with [my lactation consultant] in the days and weeks after my daughter’s birth (my home was outside of the home visit catchment area). My daughter and I had an incredibly rocky start; I had heard breastfeeding was “hard” but totally underestimated the challenge. I planned and truly wanted to breastfeed but after just a few days of trying I felt so overwhelmed by the difficulty that I stopped. Without [my lactation consultant’s] expertise, guidance and encouragement (she was a therapist too at times) I would never have established breastfeeding. My daughter is now three months old, I am exclusively breastfeeding and plan to continue for many months. I remain so grateful.

I just had my second baby and remembered [London Lactation Consultants] helped me with my first one. Somehow this time it was harder than the first time but I wouldn’t have made it without [my lactation consultant]. She was always super helpful always answered my questions and went above and beyond to help me overcome tongue tie and a bad case of mastitis. I will be forever grateful for all her help. She saw me during bank holidays, answered my questions on the weekends and had many resources available. I felt supported, taken care of and how she genuinely cared and wanted to help. Thank you so so so much.

We had a private zoom session and it was absolutely fantastic. Even though we are doing group classes, it was entirely invaluable to have our own queries and questions addressed and [my lactation consultant] was amazingly knowledgeable. We would not hesitate to recommend and feel confident and armed to approach our breastfeeding journey successfully. Should we come across any issues after baby is born, we also have established a wonderful and comfortable relationship with [our lactation consultant] already. Which has aided settling my anxieties on many levels. Highly recommend!!!!

[My Lactation Consultant] was amazing to work with and helped us reach the very happy and comfortable place in breastfeeding we are now! She is responsive, insightful and always encouraging — which made all the difference when I was having a tough time. She also proactively checked in on me which was a nice touch and much appreciated. Ultimately she helped me overcome mastitis, latch and positioning issues, as well as my son’s tongue tie. We met with her antenatally via video call as well as postnatal home visits and in the clinic — and she always did what she could to see me as soon as possible when I wanted to make an appointment. Communication via text was super convenient as well. Thank you so much! We are so happy that I can continue to breastfeed and I look forward to doing so for many many months to come!

We met during our antenatal classes and had the most informative session on breastfeeding. When we started our breast feeding journey, we constantly referred to the notes we took and used so many of her recommended positions – it was so helpful. We contacted her again when our baby was 16 weeks as we had been told by the GP he had tongue tie. By this point, we were pretty desperate, tired and worried. We had a video call to begin with and gave us some tips to help us before we saw her in person with both breast and bottle feeding, as we do one bottle a day. She was hugely supportive and caring and gave us the confidence to keep going before we saw her. We saw her just before we had the tongue tie procedure to talk through what would happen and to put our minds at ease. Our baby absolutely loved her which made it an even better experience! We had one more appointment after the procedure and again, she was absolutely amazing. So attentive to us and our baby. She has been so quick to respond on email, followed up when she didn’t have to and kept in touch afterwards. I will be recommending her to all of my friends who would like feeding support in the future and I wouldn’t hesitate to get in touch again for some further assistance. It was the best decision we made getting back in touch with her and as a result we have a much happier baby when he’s feeding and a much more confident mummy too!

Your support, advice and the comfort you

Just to say a massive thank you for today – it was lovely to meet you and get all your good advice. It was such a relief to be heard and listened too in such a calm and professional manner, as many women as possible should be aware of your services. I’ll definitely recommend your services to a couple of friends who are due soon too.

Tongue Tie information:

Our IBCLCs can support families who suspect their baby is tongue-tied by performing an oral assessment and referring to local tongue tie clinic pathways. We do not offer the tongue tie division procedure.

In most cases, your IBCLC can help with strategies to improve feeding effectiveness and comfort; and support your milk supply. These are important alongside any treatment for tongue-tie.

NICE Guidance is that skilled breastfeeding management is an integral part of any treatment for tongue-tie https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ipg149/chapter/2-The-procedure

[My Lactation Consultant] has been fantastic- her tailored advice and support has enabled me to continue breastfeeding despite multiple issues including a posterior tongue tie, low milk supply, breast/nipple pain and insufficient baby weight gain. I found [my Lactation Consultant] to be very well informed, caring, considerate and kept my baby calm and happy when doing the in-person consult. She identified that we were keen to take an evidence based approach and provided relevant reading material as well as detailed advice in the consultations and in follow up emails and texts. Her recommendations for a tongue surgeon and cranial osteopath were also great. My baby is now 4.5 months old and I’m hopeful that working with her has meant I can successfully breastfeed for as long as I want to.

[My Lactation Consultant] was so helpful when I experienced pain and damage when trying to establish breastfeeding. We had a number of video call consultations and then a home visit at which she diagnosed tongue tie after an examination of my baby. I am so thankful to [my Lactation Consultant] as she supported me to persevere and I am now pain free and loving breastfeeding my baby!

We worked with [my Lactation Consultant] at their clinic after my friend recommended her services. To say we were desperate for some support and practical guidance was an understatement. She ensured we left the clinic with a clear, manageable and pragmatic short term plan and support to have our daughter’s tongue tie dealt with successfully. Following on from this initial appointment [my Lactation Consultant] helped me understand how to best support our daughter as she learnt how to breast feed successfully after her frenectomy.

This might sound dramatic but I can genuinely say that we were close to giving up on breast feeding altogether before. I feel so privileged to have had access to such fantastic support so that we could continue breastfeeding. Our daughter is now 5 months old and we are loving every minute of pain-free breast feeding! I cannot recommend London Lactation Consultants enough – they changed our breast feeding journey for the better and I cannot thank them enough.
